Skyworks Solutions is seeking a University student for an RFIC design and lab testing position for its RF Mixed-Signal Intelligence Solutions (RMI) business unit at its location in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The successful candidate will report to an assigned Senior Engineering Mentor who will provide ongoing coaching, support, and technical guidance. This is a one-year onsite position starting in January 2027 and continuing through December 2027.

This candidate will join in a diverse team of RFIC, Analog IC, and Module designers assisting in the concept, design, integration, and delivery of complex multichip, multi-technology RFIC-based wireless module solutions. This position will provide the student with a well-rounded introduction to the RF electronic component design environment and suits individuals seeking a career in the field of RF and analog integrated circuits.

Skyworks is a world-class, vertically integrated company with manufacturing capabilities in RF semiconductors, acoustic filters, packaging, and test. The candidate will be involved in all aspects of product realization and work with an extended cross-site team to validate and deliver high-performance RF products from concept to high-volume markets.

Responsibilities

  • Lab testing and characterization of highly integrated front-end modules.
  • Contributing to the research and development of advanced analog and RF integrated circuits for wireless technology.
  • Assist in new product engineering and design activities.
  • Communicate with employees at all levels in the organization and be able to demonstrate excellent problem-solving, data analysis, and critical thinking skills.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Candidate must be currently enrolled in an MS or PhD Electrical Engineering degree program.
  • Able to work onsite full-time from January through December 2027.
  • Must have knowledge of Electromagnetic Fields, Microwave/RF/ Analog Circuits and Principles.
  • Experience in designing Power Amplifier, Low Noise Amplifier, RF/Microwave Components is preferred.
  • An interest and aptitude in the art of RF/microwave and analog circuit design and measurement.
  • An interest and aptitude in semiconductor device physics and integrated circuit design.
  • Desirable knowledge/experience includes familiarity with ADS, Cadence, HFSS, or similar design tools.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (Excel and Word) and have an aptitude for quickly learning other company-specific software.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills.
  • Good communication, organization, and documentation skills.
