RFIC Design Co-Op (Winter/Spring 2027)

A full-time onsite co-op (January–May/June 2027) at Skyworks' Irvine, CA team contributing to 5G front-end RFIC design: deriving block-level specs, building switch and LNA schematics and test benches in Cadence, developing test chips, running top-level simulations, and correlating simulation with measurements.
Description
This 2027 Winter/Spring Co-op will contribute to 5G advancement of Skyworks front-end RFICs. The co-op will work with the highly cooperative and talented Irvine, California team on various advance design projects. The co-op is expected to be on site full time. Please note that although this is a co-op position this is a position of responsibility and accountability.
Responsibilities
Co-op will be responsible for following tasks depending on their background
- Understand and review front end specifications from the customer and derive individual block level specs
- Develop schematics of switches and LNAs along with appropriate test benches in Cadence to simulate the performance
- Develop test chips to measure test circuits- active and passives
- Perform top level functional simulations to verify and debug the die functionality
- Design Switch circuits and LNA circuits with experienced senior designers' help
- Prepare relevant documents and present final design reviews to the wider audience
- Simulation to measurement correlation
Required Experience and Skills
This position requires deep understanding of following:
- MS candidate with fundamental RFIC/Analog course work and labs
- Large signal and small signal device models
- Various semiconductor process- SOI, bulk CMOS, SiGe
- Modeling of passive component
- Cadence, spectre RF, layout, EMX, HFSS
- Microwave theory
- System level understanding of NF, Sparameters, linearity etc
- Must be able to work onsite in Irvine office January - May/June 2027
Desired Experience and Skills
PHD candidates with experience of multiple RFIC tape outs and measurement experience
