Risk Manager

The Risk Manager will be responsible for embedding a best-in-class Risk management culture within VFD Group. Build a Risk Management framework that supports the achievement of VFD Group corporate vision and objectives.


  • Ensure that a full set of frameworks and policies is in place that complies with regulation and ensures the upkeep thereof including Enterprise Risk Framework, Risk Appetite Policy, Operational Risk Policies etc.
  • Ensure that process and systems are in place for the identification and reporting of risk across all risk types.
  • Identifying where risk exceeds risk appetite, or has a heightened likelihood of exceeding risk appetite, and bring management and board attention to this in a timeous manner.
  • To monitor control mechanisms implemented as part of the risk management process and assess the operational effectiveness.
  • To coordinate and provide training programs related to specific risk management as required and guide users where necessary.
  • To conduct and document risk assessments for each function in the business unit to ascertain compliance with risk management policy, standard operating procedures and set guidelines.
  • To manage business risks to ensure opportunities are proactively leveraged and advise the Management accordingly.
  • To coordinate with Business Unit Leads on updating the risk register and tracking closure of action plans.
  • To ensure business continuity test is conducted based on the approved schedule signed off by the board.
  • Drive the identification, measurement and analysis of, and reporting on, all risks in the company
  • Monitor remediation of any breaches or misalignments reported per the above functions
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Executive Management and Board Risk Committee on strategic, operational, financial, and regulatory risks.
  • Attend and actively participate in Executive Management Meetings, and Board Sub-Committee Meetings, providing independent risk insights and recommendations.
  • Conduct portfolio-level risk assessments, stress testing, and scenario analysis to evaluate potential impacts on capital and profitability.
  • Oversee counterparty risk management, credit risk assessments and due diligence reviews for investments and strategic partnerships.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, governance standards and industry best practices.
  • Lead Business Continuity Management, Crisis Management and Incident Management programs across the Group.




Requirements

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, time management, planning, problem solving, oral and written communication skills with strong attention to details.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications and other computer software e.g., spreadsheet, database and is comfortable reviewing numbers.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies in a financial environment with strong business acumen.
  • Good interpersonal and strong team management skill.
  • Minimum of 5 years or more risk management with relevant experience in financial services.
  • HND /Bachelor’s Degree in a Business-related Course, Economics, Accounting or Engineering.
  • Masters’ degree in a relevant field of study or relevant professional qualification would be an advantage.
