JOB SUMMARY:

The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Staff RN shall demonstrate basic knowledge of exercise physiology, nutrition, risk factor behavior modification strategies, counseling techniques & uses of educational resources to coordinate services of cardiac & pulmonary rehabilitation. The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Staff RN provides nurse support to the department for the care of cardiac rehab patients.

The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Staff RN reports directly to Director of Rehabilitation Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
a.) Graduate of accredited School of Nursing.

Licensure/Certification:
a.) Current licensure by state of Missouri. Current BLS & ACLS certification.

Work Experience:
At least one-year RN experience required. Background & experience should include understanding of coronary care, pulmonary care, exercise therapy, dysrhythmia recognition & patient education. Cardiac monitor experience required.

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:

1. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team to plan and implement individualized cardiac & pulmonary rehab services.

2. Ensure satisfactory completion of assessment, clinical procedures, documentation, educational and procedural teaching of the patient.

3. Ensures self-compliance with professional, regulatory, & government standards of care.

4. Recognize emergency situations & initiates proper protocol.

5. Accountable and responsible for work performance and continuous improvement of patient care in work are & throughout the hospital.

6. Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Works indoors in well-lighted and ventilated cool environment.
2. Prolonged standing & walking with exposure to all patient elements.
3. Assist with lifting & moving patients.
4. Able to handle potentially life threatening emergencies & incidents.
5. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours.
6. Subject to frequent interruptions.
