Registered Nurse- Occupational Medicine

Work Schedule: The Registered Nurse- Occupational Medicine will be on duty for a

minimum of 40 hours per week. Scheduled shifts are normally Monday through Friday

between the hours of 0630-1730. However, schedules may vary to accommodate

demand. Shifts are for a minimum of 9 hours per day to include a 1-hour (non-paid)

lunch. Any schedule changes must be submitted to the COR and approved by the

Contracting Officer. All changes must be approved in writing and agreed upon by the

Contracting Officer and the Contractor.

Duties: The duties for the HCW are as follows:

Active membership in the 96 MDG Occupational Health and Environmental

Working Group (OEHWG), organization of the OHWG agenda/slide

presentation, collection and presentation of data to the OEHWG, and assisting the

OEHWG chairman with scheduling and management of the meeting, and

management and resolution of assigned open items.

Attendance at the 96 MDG Population Health Working Group (PHWG),

management and resolution of open items as assigned.

Tracking of Flight Surgeon occupational/industrial shop visits and reporting this

data at the OEHWG.

Tracking, scheduling, and management of Occupational Examinations at

designated units.

Management of the Fitness for Duty program in coordination with Civilian

Personnel, to include scheduling appointments and case management.

Active case management of Occupational Health program cases, particularly

difficult cases needing extra administrative actions or consultations.

Performs nursing telephone consultations with applicable patients.

Tracking and administrative management of OSHA Form 301 illness

investigations. Entry of relevant data into the USAF Occupational Illness

Tracking System.

Assist with scheduling of Occupational Medicine examinations and visits for

Occupational Medicine Physician or Flight Surgeons.

Performs Occupational/Industrial shop visits to a variety of locations on Eglin

AFB and Duke Field in conjunction with other members of the Occupational

Health Program team or alone. Authors shop visit reports, which are tracked in

the weekly Flight Medicine Grounding Management Meeting and the OEHWG.

Performs various duties related to other portions of 96 Operation Medical

Readiness Squadron/96 OMRS, to include but not limited to Flight Medicine

Program, Health and Wellness Program, or Public Health Program as directed by

Occupational Medicine Physician, Flight Medicine Commander or OMRS/CC.

Provides direct patient care services primarily for patients assigned to the

Occupational Health Clinic in the MTF. The HCW shall be required to assist in

treating patients enrolled to all out-patient clinics assigned to the MTF when

required by the Flight Commander, to ensure access standards are met during

deployments, unscheduled absences or when limited technician staffing dictates.

Synthesizes information and make appropriate clinical decisions using a wide

variety of data sources specifically patient response, physician and nurse progress

notes, interdisciplinary consultations, results of tests/procedures and applicable

guidelines and standards.

Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and pathophysiology of

disease processes specific to the unit population to include all ages from newborns

to geriatrics.

Documents patient condition including nursing assessment/reassessment,

planning, interventions, evaluation, outcomes, patient/family teaching and follow

up care.

Sets up and operates intravenous infusion pumps and monitoring specialized

equipment and other medical equipment.

Trains, orientates, and evaluates duty performance of newly assigned personnel as

appropriate and maintains accountability for making patient care assignments

based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
