RN or RCIS Tech
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Completes and verifies surgical documents
- Ensures the correct site and correct procedure through involvement in the time-out process and verifying the patient’s identity
- Assesses the patients for allergies and other pre-existing conditions
- Prepares and positions patients for surgery
- Assesses and maintains sterile and aseptic techniques throughout the process
- Along with the surgical tech, performs counts of surgical items prior to operating and after to ensure none are retained in the patient
- Administers and charts medications as ordered by the physician
- May administer conscious sedation under the supervision of the physician
- Monitors patient’s vital signs
- Communicates with patients, teammates, and physicians to ensure continuity of care
- Assists with room turnover in between cases
- Recognizes and responds appropriately in emergency situations
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee must have good communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills. Must be organized and have time management abilities. Proficiency in electronic medical record systems is preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Current, unrestricted RN license in Virginia
- Current BLS and ACLS required
