About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Ireland's leading road surfacing contractors as a Road Surfacing Technology Supervisor Apprentice. Working alongside experienced surfacing professionals, you will gain practical, hands-on experience while completing the new SOLAS and TUS Midlands Road Surfacing Technology Apprenticeship.


This role is ideal for someone who is motivated, enjoys working outdoors, and wants to build a long-term career in construction management and road surfacing.

Key Responsibilities

As part of your apprenticeship, you will learn how to supervise road surfacing operations from planning through to completion, including:
  • Assist with pre-start site visits and planning.
  • Prepare jobs before works commence.
  • Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
  • Order asphalt and other materials required for projects.
  • Supervise surfacing crews on site.
  • Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to specification.
  • Promote and maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety.
  • Carry out quality inspections and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Monitor productivity and programme performance.
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities and contract managers.
  • Complete GPS measurements of completed works.
  • Prepare site records and documentation.
  • Submit completed measurements and paperwork to Contract Managers for payment processing.
  • Attend apprenticeship training and complete all academic requirements through SOLAS and TUS Midlands.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to take responsibility.
  • An interest in construction, engineering or road surfacing.
  • Good IT skills (or willingness to learn).
  • Full driving licence (or working towards obtaining one) would be advantageous.
