Robotic Software Engineer - Aerial Autonomy

You will design and integrate autonomy and vehicle-intelligence systems across hardware and software. You will deploy autonomy on embedded platforms, troubleshoot complex integration issues, support live UAV flight tests, and validate systems in software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop modular autonomy capabilities for defense applications
• Integrate and deploy autonomy solutions on embedded Linux hardware platforms
• Interface with sensors and collect data
• Troubleshoot integration and software issues
• Integrate autonomy software with aircraft autopilots, datalinks, sensors, PNT/GPS/INS, and ground control stations
• Support live flight testing of unmanned aerial vehicles
• Collaborate with UAS vendors to integrate autonomy software onto OEM hardware
• Conduct system setup, testing, and validation in SIL and HIL environments
• Implement service-oriented architecture software and inter-process messaging systems

Requirements

• BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related engineering field
• 3+ years of hands-on robotic systems experience
• C++ programming experience
• Experience integrating robotics products with Pixhawk autopilots, ArduPilot, or PX4
• Experience with UART, RS232, RS422, RS485, SPI, QSPI, I2C, and Ethernet
• Experience with Docker, containerized deployments, and Linux operating systems
• Experience with Git, Visual Studio Code, and GitLab
• Familiarity with real-time, edge-computing, safety-critical, SIL, and HIL systems
• Willingness to travel 10–20%
• U.S. citizenship
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
