Location: Nashville, TN (On-site & In-person) with hybrid optional once fully trained
This role is fully on-site at our Nashville, TN location. We are seeking candidates who are currently located in the Nashville Metropolitan Area and able to work on-site daily. Please note that relocation assistance is not available for this position.

We are seeking an Automation Software Engineer to design, build, and support the software systems that power our automated laboratory operations. This role blends hands-on software engineering with laboratory automation, robotics, and instrumentation, offering the opportunity to see your work directly improve efficiency, reliability, and scientific throughput.


What You’ll Do

Software Development & Automation Integration

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions that integrate laboratory automation platforms and robotic systems.
  • Program and debug automation software using .NET (C#), SQL, vendor-specific tools, and custom controls for laboratory instruments.
  • Develop software-based diagnostics, monitoring, and reporting tools to assess automation system health and performance.
  • Identify system and process inefficiencies and recommend software-driven enhancements to improve reliability and throughput.

System Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide software support for automated instrumentation, equipment, custom hardware add-ons, and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues impacting automated laboratory operations.
  • Support ongoing maintenance, updates, and optimization of automation software and systems.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule once fully trained.

Validation, Documentation & Collaboration

  • Perform and document IQ/OQ/PQ activities for automated instrumentation, systems, and software components.
  • Create clear, concise technical documentation for software, systems, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to define specifications, evaluate compatibility, and support system installations.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies in automation, robotics, software engineering, and laboratory systems.
