Robotics Mechatronics Engineer (m/f/d)
Summary
Design and build real-world robotics and UAV systems by integrating sensors, electronics, and embedded computers, then assemble and test them for reliable outdoor deployment.
- Work in an international, agile team creating the future of autonomous systems
- Grow your career in a expanding and ambitious engineering team
- Build innovative products using state-of-the-art technologies in AI, robotics, and autonomy
- Benefit from a steep learning curve and continuous development
- Enjoy team events and a strong, collaborative culture
You will own the mechanical integration of sensors, electronics, embedded computers, and other payload, transforming concepts into fully assembled and operational systems. From CAD design and electronics design, to hands-on assembly and field integration including relevant software, you will ensure our platforms are robust, maintainable, and ready for deployment.
This is a highly practical role for someone who enjoys building, testing, troubleshooting, and delivering complete systems rather than working within narrow engineering boundaries.
What You'll Do :
- Design assemblies, brackets, enclosures, and mounting solutions using CAD.
- Produce manufacturing drawings and documentation for fabrication and assembly.
- Select, source, and order mechanical and electromechanical components.
- Coordinate directly with suppliers, shops, and manufacturing partners.
- Design and integrate systems containing sensors, embedded computers, PCBs, power electronics, and communication equipment.
- Assemble prototypes independently.
- Support integration of payloads onto UAVs and robotic platforms.
- Work closely with robotics, perception, electronics, and systems engineers to translate requirements into deployable hardware.
- Identify integration issues early and proactively drive solutions.
- Participate in testing and validation activities, ensuring hardware survives real operational conditions.
- Continuously improve designs based on field feedback and lessons learned.
- 1-3 years UAV, robotics, automotive, or defense experience.
- Strong mechanical & electrical design experience.
- Basic electronics knowledge (power distribution, PCBs, connectors, sensors).
- CAD experience (SolidWorks, Fusion 360,Inventor, CATIA, Siemens NX orsimilar).
- Creation of detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Experience integrating electronics into mechanical systems.
- Hands-on prototyping, assembly, and workshop experience.
- Ability to work independently
- Experience integrating cameras, radars, GNSS, antennas, or other sensor systems.
- Experience working with robotics software (ROS2, C++, Python,...) and embedded programming.
- Experience in small companies, startups, robotics, automotive, aerospace, UAV, or defense environments.
- Experience working with RF and EMI related topics.
- Understanding of manufacturing methods such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and aluminium structures.
- A1/A3 license and experience flying drones, preferably Multi-Copters.
- Builder mentality: you ship working solutions, not theoretical concepts
- Hands-on ownership: you proactively solve problems, even outside your direct scope
- Field-driven mindset: you care about what survives real operations, not “lab perfect”
- High quality bar: you aim for reliability, determinism, and clarity in your engineering
- Startup drive: you execute fast despite ambiguity, and adapt quickly
- Mission alignment: genuine motivation to work on defense-relevant, safety-critical robotics
- Nationality of a NATO member nation or close ally is required
