Robotics Software Engineer (Sensor & Perception Integration / up to $6500) VA
Salary: $4,500 – $6,500 per month
Description:
Central | Office hour | up to $6,500
Role Summary
Purpose: Strengthen in-house capability in robotics software, computer vision / edge AI and sensor integration. The engineer will develop and integrate software that turns sensor data into reliable operational information, and help move perception capabilities from prototype to deployable product functions.
Role focus: Robotics software + perception + edge deployment + sensor integration. This is not a pure AI research or data-science position.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop robotics and edge software in C++ / Python on Linux-based platforms, including NVIDIA Jetson where applicable.
• Integrate EO/IR cameras and other sensors through SDKs, APIs, network interfaces and real-time video pipelines.
• Develop and productionise computer-vision functions such as detection, classification and multi-object tracking.
• Optimise AI inference for edge deployment using technologies such as OpenCV, ONNX, TensorRT / CUDA or equivalent.
• Integrate perception outputs with AST tracking, PTZ cueing, operator workflows and external C2 interfaces.
• Support future multi-sensor integration involving AIS, radar, thermal and other sensing modalities.
• Contribute to emerging AST capabilities in sensor fusion, multimodal AI, behaviour/event analytics and intelligent sensor orchestration, where operational value is validated.
• Support system integration, testing, field trials, troubleshooting, reliability improvement and technical documentation
Requirement
• Degree in Computer Science, Computer / Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
•Strong foundation in C++ and Python, with Linux development and debugging experience.
• Hands-on experience in one or more of the following: robotics, computer vision, edge AI, camera / sensor integration, embedded or edge systems.
• Comfortable troubleshooting across software, networking and physical hardware interfaces.
• Experience with NVIDIA Jetson, OpenCV, GStreamer / RTSP, TensorRT / ONNX and ROS / ROS2 would be advantageous.
• Candidates with strong relevant project, internship or practical engineering experience may also be considered; capability and hands-on evidence are more important than years of experience alone.
