Romanian to English (US) Translator
Summary
Remote contract (1099) role translating written materials — articles, reports, correspondence, legal and technical documents — from Romanian into US English for a language services provider. Core work involves faithful translation, editing/proofreading, terminology management, and using CAT tools.

We are looking for a skilled and proficient Romanian to English (US) Translator to join our contract linguist team. As a Contract (1099) Translator, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently translating various written materials from Romanian to English (US). Your translations will play a critical role in ensuring effective communication and understanding between different languages and cultures.
Responsibilities:
- Translate a wide range of written documents, including but not limited to, articles, reports, correspondence, legal documents, and technical materials from Romanian to English (US).
- Ensure accurate and faithful translation while maintaining the tone, style, and context of the original text.
- Conduct thorough research and seek clarification to accurately understand complex or specialized subject matters.
- Edit and proofread translated materials to ensure grammatical accuracy, clarity, and coherence.
- Collaborate with other translators, editors, and project managers to meet project deadlines and ensure consistency in translations.
- Maintain terminology databases and glossaries to ensure consistent and accurate translations across different projects.
- Follow specific client instructions, formatting guidelines, and industry-specific standards.
- Stay updated with industry trends, language developments, and translation technologies to enhance translation quality and efficiency.
Requirements
- Native-level fluency in Romanian and exceptional proficiency in English (US), both written and spoken.
- Proven experience as a professional translator, specifically translating from Romanian to English (US).
- In-depth knowledge of Romanian and English grammar, vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and cultural nuances.
- Familiarity with a wide range of subject matters and ability to translate various types of documents.
- Strong research skills and the ability to understand and translate complex or technical content accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality translations.
- Proficiency in using translation tools and software (e.g., CAT tools, translation memory) is preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field (preferred).
