With the opening of the Nyaal Banyul Convention Centre, our 200-room hotel is entering an exciting new phase of growth. As a key accommodation partner to one of Victoria's premier conference and events destinations, we are experiencing significant increases in conference, event and group business.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Rooms Division Manager to lead our Front Office and support both the Housekeeping and Maintenance teams. This newly created role will be instrumental in delivering exceptional guest experiences, seamless hotel operations and successful management of large-scale group arrivals, departures and event movements.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead through a team of managers and department heads across Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance. Working closely with the Commercial, Culinary and Food & Beverage teams, you will ensure operational excellence while driving premium guest experiences and efficient group movement throughout the hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance.
- Ensure exceptional guest service standards are consistently delivered.
- Lead departmental planning to support high-volume group and event activity.
- Drive continuous improvement through guest feedback and performance metrics.
- Develop, coach and inspire high-performing teams.
- Drive team engagement, training, and performance.
- Manage labour costs, productivity and departmental budgets.
- Ensure compliance with quality and hotel brand standards.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Work collaboratively with all hotel departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Handle escalated guest concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining service standards.
- Contribute to budgeting, revenue management, forecasting and business planning activities.
- Monitor key performance indicators including guest satisfaction, room readiness, labour productivity and response times.
What we need from you:
- Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in Hotel Management, or Business Administration.
- Five years of guest service/hotel experience with at least three years in a management capacity.
- Strong knowledge of hotel operations and guest service standards.
- A demonstrated capability of collaborating with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and passionate about developing your team.
- Strategic thinking, the ability to explore new ways of working and have an open mind around how we can drive the Hotel forward.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead by example with a “True Hospitality” approach in a hands-on environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
- Proficient in using Opera/Opera Cloud.
- Full working rights in Australia without restrictions.
