Duration: 6 Months (130 Business Days)

Location: hybrid, 3 days in office (with the possibility for 5 days on-site) at 277 Front Street West, 4th floor

Must Haves:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, implementation, and post-deployment support.
  • Ability to quickly understand existing applications, data structures, reporting ecosystems and business processes.
  • Advanced Power BI development including DAX, Power Query/M, data modelling, semantic models and Power BI Service.
  • Strong SQL and data modelling knowledge, including relational databases, dimensional modelling, facts, dimensions and star-schema concepts, with the ability to understand and work with SQL-based data sources when required.
  • Experience integrating and modelling data from multiple systems and data sources, including enterprise and third-party applications.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering requirements and translating business needs into technical and reporting solutions.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting existing Power BI solutions in production.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data, process and performance gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Experience with Power BI RLS, workspace management, and security.
  • Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, Power Pivot and VBA/macros where applicable.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams.
  • Knowledge and experience in rapid application development (RAD) methodologies

Public Sector Experience: Preferred

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience integrating data from APIs, cloud-based data services, enterprise applications and third-party systems.
  • Experience with project and portfolio management platforms such as Asana, Microsoft Project, or similar enterprise PM systems is preferred.
  • Experience with PMO, project portfolio, financial or operational performance reporting, with an understanding of project status, risks, financials, milestones and resource reporting.
  • Experience working in environments where multiple BI, data or development teams collaborate on shared reporting models, datasets, workspaces or enterprise data sources.
  • Python or other scripting experience for data analysis, automation or data processing

Job Summary

We are looking for a Performance Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be a self-starter that has strong Power BI development, Excel, data modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to build intuitive, dynamic and engaging dashboards that enable leadership and business users to self-serve and understand their data. The role will also involve optimizing the performance of existing reports and data solutions, developing new reporting capabilities, and ensuring that data is accurate, reliable and presented in a meaningful way.

The candidate should be comfortable working with data from multiple enterprise and third-party systems and collaborating with Finance, I&IT as well as data and application teams to bring together the information required for effective performance reporting.

The ideal candidate is a business-minded data specialist and problem solver who can bridge the gap between business requirements and technical implementation. They can take an ambiguous reporting or performance challenge, understand the underlying process and data, and turn it into a practical, scalable and decision-ready solution.

This role is an in‑office position based at our 277 Front Street West, Toronto location. Our team is highly collaborative, and much of our work benefits from in‑person co‑creation, relationship‑building, and hands‑on partnership with leaders across the organization.

Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Performance Reporting

  • Create and maintain end-user documentation, technical documentation, and developer guides for both existing and newly developed solutions.
  • Establishing reporting standards, KPI definitions, and data governance practices.
  • Gather and translate business requirements into reporting and technical specifications.
  • Understand business processes and identify opportunities for process improvement, automation and reporting optimization.
  • Design and maintain intuitive Power BI dashboards, KPIs and trend analysis for leadership and business users.
  • Develop both ad-hoc analysis and structured recurring reports to support decision-making.
  • Partner with PMO, Finance, I&IT and other stakeholders to understand and integrate their data requirements.

Power BI & Data Development

  • Design, develop and maintain Power BI reports using DAX, Power Query/M, data modelling, and semantic models.
  • Build efficient reporting models using dimensional modelling / star-schema principles.
  • Optimize existing reports, datasets and models for performance, usability and scalability.
  • Implement appropriate RLS, workspace security and access controls.
  • Troubleshoot data refresh, model, DAX and reporting issues.

Data Integration & Solution Development

  • Work with data from multiple enterprise and third-party applications (such as ServiceNow, EcoSys, Jira,etc).
  • Analyze source systems and design appropriate data structures and integration approaches for reporting.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, application developers and other BI teams to source and exchange data.
  • Work with technologies such as SQL, Azure Data Lake, Dataverse and APIs as required.
  • Identifying data quality issues and implementing appropriate controls.

Existing Solution Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Quickly understand and support existing applications, reports, data models and business processes.
  • Investigate production issues, identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Evaluate existing solutions and identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve data quality, and enhance performance.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance and enhancement of reporting solutions.

Data Migration & Platform Transition

  • Analyze source and target data structures and develop data mapping, migration strategies and templates.
  • Support migration of reporting data and processes when applications or platforms change.
  • Validate migrated data and ensure business reporting requirements are maintained during transition.

Testing, Deployment & Documentation

  • Develop and execute UAT, regression and production validation scenarios.
  • Support reporting releases and post-production validation.
  • Maintain business, technical and data documentation.
  • Collaborate with developers and business users throughout the solution lifecycle.
