SaaS Backend Engineer
Summary
Builds and maintains scalable SaaS backend services in Node.js/NestJS with TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and CI/CD pipelines for a leading devtools platform.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high‑quality software solutions that support PTC’s industry‑leading platforms.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Drive innovation across the product lifecycle.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js (NestJS/Express), and Angular.
- Experience building and maintaining multi‑tenant SaaS applications, including tenant isolation and scalability.
- Proficiency with REST APIs, API versioning, and familiarity with OAuth2/OpenID Connect, JWTs, JWKs, and related security best practices.
- Solid experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases; familiarity with key‑value/document stores.
- Practical experience with Git and GitLab CI/CD workflows, and automated build/test pipelines.
- Understanding of asynchronous patterns (queues, messaging, events).
- Experience with secrets management and key/certificate rotation.
- Strong automated testing discipline: unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing.
- Strong debugging abilities, analytical reasoning, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, working effectively across cross‑functional teams.
Compensation & Benefits
PTC determines compensation using objective and gender‑neutral criteria, including relevant professional experience, skills, qualifications, role responsibilities, and the role’s geographic location. The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is £33,000 – £82,500 for the stated work location. In addition to base salary, the position may be eligible to participate in a performance‑based variable compensation plan, where applicable, in accordance with established plan rules and local legal requirements. Eligible employees may also be offered the opportunity to participate in PTC’s Employee Share Purchase Programme (ESPP), subject to local eligibility criteria and applicable law.
