SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER

The primary purpose of this position is to manage a broad range of base-level flight safety program elements for a wing conducting diverse aviation and airfield activities, including mishap investigations, reports, briefings, training, surveys, inspections, budgets, and equipment custody.
1. Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates activities necessary to the overall management and operations of a diverse aviation/flight safety program. 2. Plans, directs and conducts investigations and analyzes of mishaps and hazardous conditions to determine origin, causes, and contributing elements and prepares written evaluation reports concerning findings and proposed recommendations. 3. Prepares supplements to instructions and manuals and develops specialized local instructions defining mishap prevention programs and procedures based on interpretation and/or adaptation of higher command instructions and policies formulated by other federal government agencies. 4. Reviews plans and specifications for new construction, major building alterations, and/or changes in equipment to identify aviation/flight safety hazards within proposals, and monitors projects through completion to ensure risk mitigation. 5. Develops and provides technical safety training/instruction to supervisors, employees, and/or unit safety representatives on a wide range of aviation/flight safety areas of concern.
