The Opportunity:

The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport has an exciting opportunity for a flexible, self-starting administrative professional to join the Safety and Training Unit as Program Support. In this role, you will help strengthen health, safety and wellness programs that reduce workplace incidents, injuries and illness.

As part of the Safety and Training Unit, you will help develop, coordinate, and deliver the Ministry’s safety and training programs so employees and worksites have reliable support, accurate information, and consistent program administration.

This role is well suited to candidates with experience in safety program administration, records management, data reporting, procurement coordination, Microsoft 365, learning management systems, WCB injury reporting, and client service in a public sector environment.

You will be required to:

  • Develop and maintain processes for hard and electronic filing and records management systems, including managing records retention;
  • Manage processes and conduct reporting of all work-related injuries to WCB and handle all related correspondence;
  • Manage the employee safety training lifecycle, including learning management system administration and online safety training program coordination;
  • Audit safety and training program information, analyze incident and injury data, report findings, and provide input on program, policy, procedure and form improvements;
  • Provide information, interpretation and advice to staff, clients and other agencies on safety and training program requirements;
  • Perform administrative and office duties, including office and building coordination for multiple ministry branches;
  • Lead procurement processes for service providers and goods suppliers, including developing contracts and service agreements for external safety training providers; and
  • Manage Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Programs.
  • Prepare, format, proofread, and process documents, correspondence, and reports.
  • Maintain organized electronic and paper files; update, retrieve, and archive records according to procedures.
  • Enter, update, and verify data in databases, spreadsheets, and ministry systems.
  • Produce routine reports and summaries to support program operations.
  • Respond to phone, email, and in‑person inquiries; provide information or direct clients to appropriate staff.
  • Process administrative transactions, applications, and financial documents such as invoices, payments, receipts, and expense reports.
  • Monitor and code expenditures; assist with basic budget tracking.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and ensure timely document distribution.
  • Maintain office supplies and equipment; coordinate orders and track inventory.
  • Schedule and support meetings, events, and staff activities by preparing materials and managing calendars.
  • Create, update, and organize case files or client information for review by program staff.
  • Check documents and data for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with policies.
  • Provide basic support for office software and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Maintain confidentiality, adhere to records-management standards, and work collaboratively to support efficient, client-focused office operations.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong administrative, communication, analytical and organizational skills, including:

  • Accurately enter, format, retrieve and maintain data using Microsoft 365 tools such as Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint, as well as Oracle-based programs;
  • Communicate clearly, orally and in writing, with a variety of audiences to build support, educate and promote understanding;
  • Synthesize information, analyze data and prepare clear reports that support program monitoring and decision making;
  • Record and organize a wide variety of information in a clear, concise, accurate and timely manner so others can understand and use it;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member with other individuals and organizations to meet program and Ministry goals and objectives; and
  • Knowledge of office and administration procedures, including basic financial and procurement processes.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required for this position is obtained through:

  • Successful completion of a Business or Office Administration certificate; and
  • Experience using a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook).
  • A Health & Safety Administrator certificate from a recognized safety association is an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

This position will require travel on an occasional basis and provides an opportunity to travel to multiple worksites (i.e., provincial parks) within the province and, as such, a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's License is required.
