Summary

SDET on Apple's Applied Sensing & Health team, owning quality for health/fitness sensing features end to end: building test infrastructure and automation frameworks, profiling system-level memory/power performance, applying AI to QA tooling, and analyzing algorithm telemetry. Core languages: Python, Swift, Objective-C, C++.

The Applied Sensing & Health team builds the sensing technology behind many health and fitness features on Apple devices. From all-day Activity Rings tracking and workout calorie algorithms to VO2 max estimates and running form metrics, our engineers turn sensor data and user context into insights that help people understand and improve their health and fitness. Join us to work on the next generation of software and hardware that will reach millions of Apple customers every day.

We’re looking for an experienced engineer to independently own and lead quality for the next generation of health and fitness features, from early development through release. This includes designing and building the infrastructure and frameworks used to validate our features, profiling system-level performance when our features are in use, using AI to develop tools and processes for ensuring quality, and analyzing algorithm performance and telemetry to contextualize the customer experience of our products. You will also partner with cross-functional teams to drive the most effective strategies for developing and validating features from an end-user perspective.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in software quality, systems, or infrastructure engineering, ideally on consumer hardware or sensor-driven products
  • Proficient in Python, Swift, Objective-C, or C++
  • Understanding of system-level performance characterization, such as memory and power
  • Experience designing and building test infrastructure, frameworks, or automation systems at scale

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record of influencing engineering direction across teams
  • Experience using Generative AI to speed up test development and analysis
  • Experience validating hardware/software integration, ideally with sensors
  • In-depth knowledge of build/release systems and processes
  • Able to quickly learn new and existing technologies
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
