Safety Coordinator

ATLAS Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd is seeking a responsible and proactive Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) Coordinator to support the implementation and maintenance of workplace safety, health, and environmental requirements across our projects and operations.

The WSH Coordinator will work closely with project management, site supervisors, subcontractors, and workers to ensure compliance with company safety policies, project requirements, and applicable Singapore Workplace Safety and Health regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining the company's Workplace Safety and Health management system at project sites.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential workplace hazards.
  • Recommend and follow up on appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing risk assessments, safe work procedures, method statements, and other WSH-related documentation.
  • Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, induction programmes, and other safety awareness activities for workers and subcontractors.
  • Monitor compliance with site safety rules, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, and approved safe work procedures.
  • Ensure workers and subcontractors comply with applicable WSH legislation, client requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Assist in the implementation of Permit-to-Work systems and ensure relevant permits and safety documentation are properly maintained.
  • Monitor high-risk activities including work at height, lifting operations, scaffolding works, hot works, confined space works, and other construction-related activities.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, WSH personnel, subcontractors, and clients on workplace safety matters.
  • Conduct routine inspections of tools, equipment, machinery, access routes, work areas, and safety facilities.
  • Assist in investigating workplace incidents, near misses, unsafe occurrences, and safety-related complaints.
  • Prepare incident reports, inspection reports, safety observations, and follow-up reports where required.
  • Maintain proper records of safety inspections, training, toolbox meetings, permits, certificates, and other WSH documentation.
  • Monitor the validity of workers' safety training certificates and other statutory or project-specific safety requirements.
  • Assist in organising emergency response drills and ensuring emergency procedures are communicated to site personnel.
  • Participate in safety meetings, coordination meetings, and client safety inspections.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and encourage active participation in workplace safety initiatives.
  • Assist management in implementing corrective actions arising from audits, inspections, incidents, or client observations.
  • Immediately report serious safety concerns or imminent hazards to the relevant Project Manager and management.
  • Perform any other WSH-related duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Possess a recognised WSH Coordinator qualification/certificate relevant to the Singapore process/construction industry.
  • Preferably at least 2 years of relevant WSH experience in construction, engineering, process, marine, oil & gas, or related industries.
  • Good knowledge of Singapore Workplace Safety and Health requirements and construction site safety practices.
  • Familiar with risk assessment, safe work procedures, Permit-to-Work systems, and incident reporting.
  • Knowledge of work-at-height, lifting, scaffolding, hot work, and other high-risk construction activities will be advantageous.
  • Able to conduct safety inspections, briefings, toolbox meetings, and safety induction programmes.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Able to prepare basic safety reports and maintain proper documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • Willing to work at various project sites and according to project operational requirements.
