Safety Coordinator
Summary
Oversee workplace safety and health on a high-tech construction site in Singapore, ensuring compliance with local regulations, conducting inspections, and managing contractor safety.
- Implement and monitor the project's Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Management System.
- Ensure compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health Act, WSH (Construction) Regulations, and client EHS requirements.
- Conduct daily site inspections, safety observations, and hazard identification.
- Review and verify Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) before work commences.
- Coordinate and monitor Permit-to-Work (PTW) activities, including hot work, confined space entry, lifting operations, electrical isolation (LOTO), and work at height.
- Conduct daily toolbox meetings and safety briefings for employees and subcontractors.
- Monitor contractor compliance with site safety rules, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate emergency response drills, evacuation exercises, and first-aid preparedness.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of hazardous chemicals, compressed gases, and flammable materials used during project activities.
- Maintain site safety records, inspection reports, training records, PTW documentation, and statutory documentation.
- Support internal and external safety audits and client inspections.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and the client's EHS team to resolve safety issues promptly.
- Promote continuous safety improvement initiatives and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Safety Coordinator or EHS Coordinator in semiconductor construction, industrial construction, cleanroom projects, or M&E projects.
- Good knowledge of Singapore Workplace Safety and Health legislation and construction safety requirements.
- Experience with Permit-to-Work systems, Risk Assessments, and contractor safety management.
- Familiarity with cleanroom construction, process utilities, or semiconductor facility projects is an advantage.
- Strong communication, coordination, and report-writing skills.
- Good command of English is required. Ability to communicate in Mandarin is preferred to facilitate coordination with Mandarin-speaking contractors and subcontractors on project sites.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Workplace Safety and Health Coordinator (WSHC) or Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) certification recognized in Singapore.
- Experience supporting projects for semiconductor manufacturers such as Micron, GlobalFoundries, or similar high-tech facilities.
