We are seeking an experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to lead safety compliance and execution on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects. This role serves as the on-site safety authority and plays a critical role in protecting our people, projects, and clients.

Work Includes:
· Serving as the on-site SSHO and competent person in accordance with EM 385-1-1
· Implementing and enforcing the project-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP)
· Developing and maintaining Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) for all work activities
· Leading daily safety meetings, briefings, and field engagement with crews
· Conducting routine site inspections and immediately addressing unsafe conditions
· Ensuring compliance with OSHA, USACE, and all applicable safety regulations
· Managing safety documentation, reports, submittals, and daily logs
· Investigating incidents and near-misses; identifying root causes and corrective actions
· Coordinating closely with Project Management, CQCSM, and subcontractors
· Enforcing subcontractor compliance with all project safety requirements
· Exercising stop-work authority when unsafe conditions are identified
· Promoting a proactive, field-driven safety culture across the project
· 5+ years of construction safety experience (heavy civil preferred)
· Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and EM 385-1-1 requirements
· Prior experience serving as SSHO on USACE projects (preferred)
· Must be accepted by USACE as SSHO for assigned projects
· Resume must clearly demonstrate qualifications that meet EM 385-1-1 SSHO requirements
· OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (current within 4 years)
· CQM-C certification (required or ability to obtain)
· First Aid & CPR certification (current)
· Strong documentation, inspection, and incident investigation skills
· Ability to communicate effectively with crews, subcontractors, and USACE representatives
· Leadership mindset with confidence to enforce safety standards and stop work when needed
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and field technology (iPad, reporting tools)
· Valid driver’s license and TWIC card (or ability to obtain)
· Ability to work outdoors full-time in active construction and marine environments
