Safety Intern

Position Summary:
Entry-level position to provide basic health and safety support to local operations. Ensures implementation and adherence to safety programs and procedures. Assists with safety activities including training, compliance site inspections, emergency response support, environmental remediation oversight, and implementation of safety programs. Other safety activities, as required.

Responsibilities:
* Conducts site inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
* Available 24/7 for incident response. Creates incident reports or coordinates with contractors for their creation and documents the information in the company data base. Follows up with the appropriate parties, including management, to ensure corrective actions are assigned and implemented.
* Assigned minor role in Emergency Response activities based on incident severity, and experience. May conduct initial response and coordinate with management and regulatory agencies as required. Verifies that Emergency Response Plan and related information is in place.
* Oversees environmental remediation for small spills typically encountered in the upstream industry.
* Conducts safety meetings/training/orientations and maintains accurate attendance documentation.
* Provides support to Operations personnel for safety related issues.
* Develops solid relationships with management, and provides constructive input to management decisions and operational policies and procedures.
* Completes paper copy or electronic forms documenting work activities, when applicable.
* Creates hard copy and electronic files for maintenance of work-related documents and communications.
* Operates Company-owned or private vehicles used for Company work in a safe manner observing all applicable safe driving laws and guidelines.
* Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
