Safety Officer (Construction Industry)
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act, MOM regulations, and company safety policies.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety procedures, risk assessments, and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs).
- Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, inductions, and safety training for employees and subcontractors.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, prepare investigation reports, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor work activities to ensure compliance with WSH requirements and client safety standards.
- Liaise with clients, project teams, contractors, and government authorities on safety matters.
- Maintain safety documentation, inspection records, permits, and statutory reports.
- Coordinate emergency response drills and ensure emergency preparedness.
- Support project teams in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
- Promote continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental practices.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Workplace Safety and Health, Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related discipline.
- Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in the construction, engineering, semiconductor, or manufacturing industry.
- Familiar with MOM WSH regulations, Risk Assessment (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), Permit-to-Work (PTW), and incident investigation.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple project sites.
- Possession of additional safety certifications (e.g., Confined Space, Work at Height, First Aid, Fire Safety) will be an advantage.
