Position Overview
The Safety Representative is responsible for executing and maintaining safety, compliance, and risk management functions across assigned shift operations and facility locations.
This role provides frontline safety support while maintaining ownership of safety programs, audits, and compliance tracking. The Safety Representative ensures consistent safety standards, audit readiness, and continuous improvement across assigned site(s) and shift operations.
Key Responsibilities
Shift-Based Safety Coverage
- Provide real-time safety support across assigned shift operations
- Maintain strong floor presence to monitor PPE compliance, safety practices, and GMP standards
- Act as first responder to incidents, ensuring proper response, escalation, and documentation
- Reinforce safe behaviors through coaching and employee engagement
Incident Management & Investigations
- Lead investigations for incidents, injuries, and near misses
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Partner with leadership to ensure timely resolution and accountability
- Maintain accurate and detailed incident documentation
Site Ownership & Auditing
- Own safety compliance and performance for assigned location(s)
- Conduct internal audits using tools such as iAuditor/Safety Culture
- Ensure readiness for OSHA, SMETA/SEDEX, SQF, and internal audits
- Track corrective actions and drive completion
- Monitor safety KPIs, including TRIR and incident trends
Safety Programs & Compliance
- Manage key safety programs, including:
- Hazard Communication (SDS, labeling, signage)
- Respiratory Protection
- PPE compliance
- Emergency preparedness (fire drills, evacuation plans)
- Inspect and maintain safety equipment (eye wash stations, first aid kits, etc.)
- Generate and track safety-related work orders
Training & Engagement
- Support and deliver safety training across shifts
- Participate in Safety Committee initiatives
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching and communication
- Partner with supervisors and leadership to drive accountability
Administrative & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready safety documentation
- Track and report safety metrics, trends, and compliance data
- Support Workers’ Compensation processes in coordination with HR
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of all safety records
Additional Responsibilities
- Complete all required company training
- Comply with all safety and HR policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
