Safety & Risk Manager
Purpose
The Safety & Risk Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Company's Safety & Risk Management programs across all business locations. This position serves as the subject matter expert for workplace safety, OSHA compliance, workers' compensation administration, return-to-work programs, motor vehicle safety, and regulatory compliance.
The Safety & Risk Manager partners closely with Human Resources, Operations, and field leadership to reduce workplace injuries, improve employee safety, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and foster a culture of safety throughout the organization.
This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement by implementing proactive safety initiatives, analyzing safety trends, managing compliance programs, and supporting business leaders in creating safe work environments across multiple states.
Safety & OSHA Compliance

Lead company-wide safety programs and ensure compliance with federal OSHA and applicable state-plan requirements.

Maintain required OSHA records and reporting, including OSHA 300, 301, and 300A requirements, and support regulatory inspections, inquiries, citations, and corrective actions.

Develop, maintain, and review required safety programs and plans, including hazard communication, PPE, emergency response, heat illness prevention, workplace violence prevention, and other applicable state or site-specific requirements.

Conduct safety inspections, field/job-site assessments, audits, and hazard reviews; track corrective actions through completion.
Incident Prevention, Investigation & Training

Lead investigations of workplace injuries, incidents, near misses, and vehicle accidents; complete root-cause analysis and recommend preventive actions.

Develop and deliver required and risk-based safety training, including new-hire and supervisor training, and maintain appropriate training records.

Analyze safety trends and partner with operational leaders to improve safe work practices, accountability, and injury prevention.
Workers’ Compensation & Return to Work

Manage the day-to-day multi-state workers’ compensation process from injury reporting through claim closure.

Partner directly with adjusters, TPAs, brokers, medical providers, HR, and operational leaders to support timely claim handling and escalation.

Lead return-to-work and modified-duty coordination, monitor work restrictions and lost-time claims, and support appropriate and timely return to work.

Monitor claim status, reserves, costs, work loss, and significant developments and communicate/escalate as appropriate.
Driver Safety & Risk Management

Manage the Company’s MVR and driver-safety program, including eligibility reviews, continuous monitoring, and appropriate escalations.

Review vehicle and operational safety trends and partner with Fleet, Operations, and insurance partners on risk-reduction initiatives.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Maintain accurate safety and claims systems, records, dashboards, and reporting.

Monitor key safety and risk metrics, including OSHA recordables, incident trends, reporting lag, work loss, claim severity/cost, vehicle incidents, training completion, and corrective actions.

Recommend and implement process improvements that strengthen compliance, reduce risk, and improve the employee and operational experience.
