Safety & Risk Manager

Purpose

The Safety & Risk Manager owns Any Hour Group's workers' compensation program across all of our operating states, and leads the safety and driver-risk work that keeps injuries and claims down. This person manages claims from first report to closure, works directly with our TPA, carriers, and adjusters, and builds a return-to-work program that gets employees back to work safely and quickly.

This role partners closely with Field HR, Operations, and field leadership. Field HR Generalists coordinate cases in their regions; this role owns claims strategy, TPA and carrier relationships, and the return-to-work program.

This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement by implementing proactive safety initiatives, analyzing safety trends, managing compliance programs, and supporting business leaders in creating safe work environments across multiple states.

Workers' Compensation & Return to Work

• Manage the multi-state workers' compensation program from injury reporting through claim closure, including compensability questions, reserves, medical management, and lost time.
• Serve as the primary contact for our TPA, carriers, adjusters, and brokers. Hold regular claim reviews and push stalled or high-cost claims toward resolution.
• Partner with legal counsel on litigated claims, settlements, and high-exposure cases.
• Lead return-to-work and modified duty. Monitor restrictions and lost-time cases with Field HR Generalists, supervisors, and treating providers.
• Track claim costs, severity, loss runs, and the experience mod, and provide claims data for insurance renewals.
• Manage auto and fleet claims in partnership with Fleet and our insurance partners.

Driver Safety & Risk

• Manage the MVR and driver-safety program, including eligibility reviews, continuous monitoring, and escalations.
• Review vehicle incident trends and partner with Fleet and Operations on risk-reduction initiatives.

Safety & OSHA Compliance

• Maintain OSHA 300, 301, and 300A records and support regulatory inspections, inquiries, citations, and corrective actions.
• Oversee required safety programs, including hazard communication, PPE, emergency response, heat illness prevention, and workplace violence prevention.
• Lead investigations of serious injuries, incidents, and vehicle accidents, complete root-cause analysis, and partner with Operations on prevention.
• Coordinate required and risk-based safety training and maintain training records.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain accurate claims and safety systems, records, and dashboards.
• Report on key metrics to leadership, including claim count, cost and severity, reporting lag, lost time, the experience mod, OSHA recordables, and vehicle incidents.
• Recommend and implement process improvements that reduce claim costs and risk.
