Safety & Security Supervisor

General Trading Co., Inc. in Carlstadt, NJ, General Trading Co. is seeking a hands-on Safety & Security Supervisor to support and strengthen warehouse operations, loss protection, and accountability across our distribution facility. This is not a traditional security guard post and is not a desk-based role. This is a working supervisor position focused on active floor presence, investigation, and operational support within a high-volume warehouse environment.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 12:30pm – 9:30pm or finish. Weekends and holidays as needed based on operational demand. Flexibility is required.

Functions:

• Provide daily supervision and direction to Safety & Security Officers.
• Maintain strong boots-on-the-ground presence throughout warehouse, dock, and storage areas.
• Monitor and investigate inventory discrepancies, damage, mis-picks, returns, and claims.
• Identify patterns and root causes of loss and operational breakdowns.
• Utilize CCTV systems to support documentation and investigations.
• Prepare accurate reports and ensure timely follow-up.
• Coach and develop officers to improve performance and accountability.
• Enforce safety, security, and operational standards.
• Coordinate with warehouse leadership on corrective actions.
• Support audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
• Assist with scheduling, shift coverage, and performance management.
• Serve as acting lead in the Director’s absence when required.

Requirements:

• Supervisory experience in security, warehouse operations, loss prevention, logistics, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of distribution and warehouse environments.
• Proven ability to investigate issues using observation, documentation, and verification.
• Comfortable addressing performance issues and enforcing standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of reliability, organization, and professionalism.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.

Preferred Experience:

• Loss prevention or asset protection.
• Distribution center or logistics operations.
• Inventory control and discrepancy resolution.
• Root-cause analysis and corrective action.
• Team leadership and training.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

• Extensive walking and standing throughout shifts.
• Regular movement between refrigerated, frozen, and ambient temperature areas.
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions.
• Comfort operating in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
