Safety Specialist
Location and Duration
Location: Lebanon, TN, Tennessee
Duration: 6 months
Training Schedule
Week 1: AEW, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Weeks 2–3: Donut Shift, 10:30 AM – 9:00 PM
Week 4: BHN schedule for transition to shift
Shift Schedule
Back Half Nights (BHN): Wednesday to Saturday, 6:30 PM – 5:30 AM
Overtime available for coverage gaps (pending finance approval)
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety audits and inspections
- Identify compliance issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions
- Maintain safety documentation and compliance records
- Enter and manage data in internal systems
- Train and coach managers and associates on safety procedures
- Support OSHA compliance, workers' compensation, and emergency response activities
- Participate in process improvement and safety initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in EHS, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, or a related field; or a bachelor's degree in a related discipline
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, particularly 29 CFR 1910
- Professional experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or related field
- Experience in workplace safety, workers' compensation, and incident management
- Emergency response training and certifications
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, healthcare, or logistics environments
- Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Experience conducting job hazard analyses and risk assessments
- Passion for workplace safety and continuous improvement
