Safety Technician

Job Summary

The H₂S Safety Technician will report to the Carthage location and work closely with Pneumatech employees and third-party customers to promote a safe working environment. This position is responsible for the safety trailer and all equipment contained within it, including gas-detection systems, breathing-air equipment, cascade air banks, air compressors, and self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBAs).

The technician will conduct safety briefings, provide H₂S awareness orientations, monitor hazardous gases, maintain safety equipment, and support emergency-response activities. The successful candidate must be safety-focused, dependable, and prepared to work in physically demanding industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety briefings, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and H₂S awareness orientations for crew members at assigned locations.
• Calibrate, inspect, test, and maintain gas-detection monitors and related safety equipment.
• Collect tube samples to test for multiple gases and document results accurately.
• Install, test, operate, monitor, and dismantle fixed and portable gas-detection systems and monitoring networks.
• Participate in emergency-response activities and follow established emergency procedures.
• Assist employees and third-party customers with properly donning and doffing breathing-air equipment.
• Inspect work areas to confirm that required work has been completed safely and in accordance with contract requirements.
• Identify unsafe conditions and promptly communicate safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the work center, safety equipment, and assigned work areas.
• Complete required safety records, inspection reports, and equipment documentation.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass all required physical examinations, and pass drug test
• Must be medically qualified and able to wear respiratory-protection equipment, including a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
• Ability to work various shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
• Ability to enter, work in, and move through confined spaces.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to follow verbal and written safety procedures and communicate effectively with employees, customers, and supervisors.
• Safety, industrial, oil and gas, emergency-response, or related experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to:

• Climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, balance, and reach above shoulder level.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Perform physically demanding tasks while wearing respiratory protection and other required personal protective equipment.
