Saint Joseph High School, South Bend - Cafeteria

Cafeteria Position

Candidate will perform a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving food. May perform such

duties as preparing salad items, hot and or cold foods and/or assist in the preparation of bakery items. Assist in

cleaning work areas, equipment, and dishes. May perform cashiering duties while following the School

Nutrition Guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or GED) preferred

• Ability to understand and carry out basic kitchen instructions

• Must be able to lift 30 lbs. frequently, 50 lbs. occasionally

• Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods

• Works efficiently in a fast paced environment

Responsibilities/Job Duties

• Follows procedures in setting up hot and cold food lines.

• Prepares or assists in the preparation of hot or cold foods.

• Serves food to high school age children

• As needed, replenishes foods, condiments, beverages, paper products, and serving trays.

• Clean and maintain work areas.

• Washes pots, pans, and other service ware ensuring sanitary handling.

• May perform cashiering duties following the regulations set forth by the National School Lunch Program

• Table washing

• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• May require handling of objects up to 50 lbs. More often up to 30 lbs.

• Must be able to be on your feet for your scheduled shift.

• Work involves using sanitizer products and equipment cleaning chemicals.
