SUMMARY
Works with Agents and Dispatch team to maximize loads and revenue, while supervising the OTR Drivers while at your residing racetrack/training center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provide our customers and potential customers with excellent service and response.
- Make rounds through all the barns daily to provide customer service, and book shipping requests.
- Book Trips
- Get accurate billing information for horses shipping/shipped.
- Load and Unload trucks that come in or out of the racetrack.
- Assist drivers & grooms with loading/unloading tack. Transport tack in pick-up truck to/from barns as needed.
- Required to travel as needed to other racetracks and horse sales.
- Assist in other transportation related functions as necessary.
Coordinates Local and OTR trips with NY/LEX/Ocala to obtain maximum utilization of trucks and revenue.
Communicate with drivers, dispatch, agents, and the Payroll/Billing Dept. on pertinent trip details.
- Work with other Agents in your area to coordinate trips and provide excellent customer service.
- Work with the OTR Dispatcher to coordinate scheduling of trucks when needed.
- Work with the Dispatchers in Lexington/Ocala to obtain maximum utilization of trucks.
- Notify agents when trucks are in the area to maximize horses on the return trip.
- Communicate and share truck load information with Dispatch team member (Lexington/Ocala) so all parties can be notified of departure and arrival information. Either send a load list before 5p.m. or call the office/receiving agent with load information.
- Communicate trip detail to help driver(s) be well prepared for the trip(s).
- Call drivers when trip changes or comes up after normal call-in times.
Coordinate with Fleet Manager to have the equipment which is domiciled at your racetrack serviced thus preventing operational delays and safety issues.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise, Communicate, and Coach the drivers while they are in your presence to constantly improve our customer service and safety. This is to include following up with drivers to make sure they are completing their logs and their DVIR’s (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports) accurately. Communicate any driver concerns to the Safety Director/OTR Dispatcher.
Coordinate and dispatch the drivers who are domiciled at the racetrack in which you reside. Always use discretion to balance the trips with the drivers, and assign drivers that are preferred to certain customers.
As requested, assist in driver performance appraisal. Address complaints and resolving problems.
