Sales Agronomist
The Sales Agronomist is responsible for promoting and selling
agricultural products (such as Hass Avocado seedlings, fertilizers,
agrochemicals, and advisory services) while providing technical agronomic
support to farmers and clients. The role combines sales performance with
agronomy expertise to improve customer productivity and drive business growth.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Sales & Business Development
- Identify and develop new business
opportunities within assigned territories
- Promote and sell agricultural
inputs (seeds, fertilizers, crop protection products)
- Achieve and exceed sales targets
and revenue goals
- Build and maintain strong
relationships with farmers, distributors, and agro-dealers
- Conduct product demonstrations
and field days
2. Agronomic Advisory
- Provide technical advice to
farmers on crop production, soil health, and pest management
- Recommend appropriate products
and farming practices based on field conditions
- Monitor crop performance and
provide ongoing support to clients
- Troubleshoot field challenges and
offer practical solutions
3. Market Intelligence
- Gather and report market trends,
competitor activities, and customer feedback
- Identify emerging agricultural
needs and opportunities
- Support product positioning and
pricing strategies
4. Training & Capacity Building
- Train farmers and agro-dealers on
product usage and best agronomic practices
- Organize farmer meetings,
demonstrations, and workshops
- Develop educational materials and
extension content
5. Reporting & Administration
- Prepare regular sales reports and
forecasts
- Maintain accurate records of
client interactions and field activities
- Collaborate with internal teams
(marketing, supply chain, technical teams)
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy,
Agriculture, Crop Science, or related field
Experience
- 2–3 years’ experience in
agricultural sales or agronomy
- Experience working directly with
farmers or rural communities is an added advantage
