Sales Development Representative
About the role
Location: Redwood City, CA (Hybrid)
Team: Marketing, reporting to VP of Marketing, in close partnership with Sales
We're looking for a Sales Development Representative to own the top of our pipeline. You'll be the first conversation most prospects have with Wisq — qualifying inbound interest, running structured outbound into our highest-fit accounts, and setting up meetings that our Account Executives are excited to take.
This is a full-cycle, pipeline-generating seat. You'll partner closely with the Marketing team to understand what's driving demand and with Sales to understand what makes a meeting worth having, and you'll use both to get better results every week. You'll also have real AI tooling at your fingertips, from account research to sequence drafting to outreach, so your time goes toward judgment and conversations, not busywork.
What you'll do
- Outbound prospecting. Build and run multi-channel outbound (email, phone, LinkedIn, etc.) into our core ICP
- Inbound qualification. Respond quickly to inbound leads, run effective discovery, and convert genuine interest into qualified meetings for the AE team.
- Meeting quality, not just meeting volume. Own your qualification criteria and hold the line on it. A great SDR will protect the AE team's time as much as they fill their calendar.
- CRM hygiene. Keep HubSpot accurate and current — activity, notes, qualification detail — so Marketing and Sales can trust the pipeline data downstream.
- AI-assisted workflow. Use our prospecting and enrichment tooling to research accounts, personalize outreach at scale, and create a feedback loop that helps us keep getting better.
- Coaching and iteration. Review your own calls in Gong, take coaching seriously, and bring back what you're hearing from the market — objections, language, competitive mentions — to Marketing and Sales.
- Cross-functional partnership. Work directly with our GTM Engineer, product marketing, and demand gen team on account lists, targeting criteria, and campaign follow-up, and with AEs on handoff quality and continuous improvement.
- Event and conference presence. Represent Wisq at industry conferences and field events, working the floor, working the room, and engaging senior HR executives face to face.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of SDR, BDR, or other customer-facing experience. New grads with strong internship or sales experience are welcome to apply.
- Sharp written and verbal communication skills, and comfort picking up the phone.
- Resilience and a competitive drive to win. You treat a "no" as a data point, not a setback.
- An ownership mentality. You treat your pipeline and your number as yours to run, and you hold yourself accountable for the results, not just the activity.
- Curiosity about the AI and HR tech space and discipline to learn the product deeply.
- Comfort working with CRM tools (HubSpot experience a plus) and AI tools for research and drafting.
- An ownership mentality. You see AEs and Marketing as partners, not just people you hand things off to.
- High autonomy and self-motivation. You experiment, test new angles without being told to, notice what's not working, and fix it or flag it rather than waiting for direction.
- Comfort working fast in a Series A environment where process is still being built, not inherited.
