Cleanwater1 is seeking a full-time Sales Engineer to support sales growth within existing and prospective customer accounts through technical and commercial expertise, customer relationship management, opportunity development, and coordination of internal resources in the Northwestern part of the United States. This position can work remotely from their home with approval. The Sales Engineer reports to the Northwest Regional Sales Manager.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist with advancing sales opportunities and bookings with customers through constant communication, technical support, timely follow-up, and management of RFAs and related activities in Salesforce.
- Maintain a strong understanding of Cleanwater1 product lines and services and provide technical presentations and training to customers.
- Identify and qualify opportunities for new capital equipment, service, and aftermarket business within customer accounts.
- Review customer process requirements and collaborate with Applications Engineering and the Regional Sales Manager to recommend appropriate treatment solutions.
- Assist customers, Project Management, and Field Service teams with open project and service-related tasks by visiting customer sites and coordinating internal resources to resolve issues and complete action items.
- Maintain accurate opportunity forecasts, customer activity records, and account plans within Salesforce.
- Work with the Regional Sales Manager to develop and execute strategic plans that increase bookings across all product lines within the region.
- Support achievement of regional bookings and revenue objectives through effective account management and customer engagement.
- Participate in weekly Sales, Project Management, and Field Service meetings.
- Identify opportunities to improve sales processes, account management practices, and the overall customer experience.
- Maintain professional relationships with customers and represent the Company in a positive and professional manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in sales, marketing, engineering, or a related technical role.
- Willingness to travel extensively (50% of the time) within the territory: primary coverage includes Washington state, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Strong project management and time management skills.
- Strong technical problem-solving and customer relationship management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, and internal teams across varying roles and personality types.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Salesforce CRM or similar customer relationship management software preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling industrial equipment, water treatment systems, or related technical products.
- Water and wastewater industry experience preferred.
- Knowledge of municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment processes.
- Experience preparing technical presentations and conducting customer training sessions.
- Familiarity with capital equipment sales cycles and project-based selling.
- Proven ability to build long-term customer relationships and drive revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of consultative and solution-based sales methodologies.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to travel frequently by automobile and commercial airline.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to perform work outdoors and at customer sites under a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to navigate industrial facilities, construction sites, and treatment plants while adhering to safety requirements.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
- Approximately 50% office environment.
- Approximately 25% light industrial environment. May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous materials, chemicals, and industrial facilities.
- Approximately 25% customer sites. May be exposed to varying weather conditions, high noise levels, hazardous materials, chemicals, and industrial facilities.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety training will be provided for all required work environments.

This position is non-exempt. Compensation is dependent on skill level. The base salary for this position is $92,000.00 annually plus opportunity for commission. Benefits package and incentives are provided. We generally offer employees working 21 hours per work or more medical, dental, vision, along with voluntary ancillary benefits. The Company has a 401(k)-match program and has company-paid life and AD&D insurance available for eligible employees.
