About the Role

The Floor Lead is responsible for all Retail Representative duties and responsibilities, including interacting with, educating, and advising customers face-to-face and by phone, assisting with inventory and cash management, and interacting with local service providers. The Floor Lead will be cross-trained in all order fulfillment activities, including preparing orders, entering product information, and more.

Additionally, the Floor Lead holds key-holder status and assists the General Manager and Assistant Manager with other duties as needed.

Colorado MED Badge Requirement

Working at a licensed cannabis dispensary in Colorado requires all employees to hold a valid Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) Employee License, commonly referred to as a "MED Badge." This is a mandatory state requirement and is non-negotiable for employment.

  • All candidates must obtain a Colorado MED Employee License prior to their first day of work, or provide proof of a Conditional Employee License (which allows work while a full background check is being processed)
  • The MED Badge requires a fingerprint-based background check conducted through the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division
  • The MED Employee License application fee is $100.00 and is the responsibility of the applicant
  • MED Badges are valid for two (2) years and must be renewed before expiration
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and must not have been convicted of a felony within the three (3) years immediately preceding their application
  • Applicants must not be subject to a current sentence for a felony conviction, including probation, parole, or deferred judgment
  • Applicants who are law enforcement officers, prosecuting officers, or employees of the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division or a local licensing authority are not eligible

Job Duties

  • Assess the needs of each customer, provide appropriate product knowledge, and conduct each transaction with accuracy and efficiency
  • Use suggestive selling strategies and actively upsell customers on products and promotions
  • Accept constructive criticism and coaching from upper management
  • Assist with inventory tasks when needed
  • Work scheduled shifts and follow the company's attendance policy
  • Follow all safety and Colorado MED rules and policies in compliance with state regulations
  • Promote the perks of being a JARS customer including the Loyalty Program, referrals, and more
  • Record transactions accurately in the POS system, use appropriate login credentials, and ensure the accuracy of the assigned cash drawer
  • Perform opening and closing duties as needed (key-holder status)
  • Escalate customer issues to upper management when appropriate
  • Maintain a positive, caring attitude and treat customers and co-workers with respect
  • Maintain neatness, cleanliness, and organization of the sales floor
  • Fill in when short-staffed and remain willing to be cross-trained
  • Follow and integrate JARS company policies and procedures with all on-the-job interactions, tasks, and behaviors
  • Listen and respond to customer and coworker needs and requests appropriately and in a timely manner

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Colorado MED Employee License (MED Badge) prior to the start date
  • Must successfully pass the MED's fingerprint-based background check
  • Minimum 3 years of customer service experience in a retail, sales, and/or hospitality environment
  • Acquired knowledge of cannabis strains and applications
  • Cannabis industry and/or health industry experience highly desirable
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Basic math skills required

Work Atmosphere / Physical Demands

  • Requires prolonged standing and some bending, stooping, and stretching
  • Ability to operate a computer, POS system, and other office equipment
  • Moving up to 30 pounds on occasion
  • Work performed in a fast-paced retail cannabis dispensary
  • Frequent contact with customers and staff throughout each shift
  • Varied hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and events as required

Compensation & Benefits

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. JARS Cannabis will not seek prior salary history and will not use salary history to determine compensation, in compliance with Colorado law.

Additional Compensation: Employees are eligible for monthly performance-based bonus incentives. Specific eligibility criteria and amounts are communicated during the onboarding process.
