Job Summary
The Sales Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to increase the company's revenue and market presence in the wholesale and distribution of plasticware, kitchenware and household products.
The role involves managing existing customer accounts, developing new business opportunities, supervising the sales team, monitoring market trends and ensuring the achievement of sales and profitability targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sales plans and strategies to achieve the company's monthly and annual sales targets.
- Manage and expand the company's customer base, including wholesalers, retailers, distributors, supermarkets, general traders and corporate customers.
- Identify and develop new sales opportunities and distribution channels for plasticware, kitchenware and household products.
- Build and maintain strong business relationships with key customers and distributors.
- Lead, supervise and motivate the sales team to achieve individual and departmental sales targets.
- Assign sales territories, customer accounts and targets to sales staff and regularly monitor their performance.
- Conduct regular customer visits and sales meetings to understand customers' requirements and promote the company's products.
- Prepare and review quotations, sales proposals, price lists and promotional offers.
- Negotiate pricing, order quantities, payment terms and other commercial terms with customers within company guidelines.
- Monitor product sales performance and recommend appropriate promotions or sales initiatives for slow-moving and new products.
- Work closely with the purchasing and inventory teams to forecast customer demand and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate fulfilment of customer orders.
- Monitor competitors' products, pricing, promotions and market activities and provide recommendations to management.
- Handle major customer enquiries, feedback and commercial issues and ensure satisfactory resolution.
- Monitor customers' payment status and coordinate with the accounts department regarding outstanding payments when required.
- Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, customer analysis and performance updates for management.
- Participate in trade fairs, exhibitions, customer events and other business development activities where required.
- Ensure that the sales team maintains accurate customer, quotation and sales records.
- Perform other sales and managerial duties assigned by senior management.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in sales, preferably within wholesale, distribution, plasticware, household products, kitchenware, FMCG or general trading.
- Previous experience in supervising or managing a sales team is preferred.
- Good understanding of wholesale pricing, distribution channels and customer account management.
- Strong sales, negotiation and business development skills.
- Good leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Results-oriented with the ability to work towards sales and profitability targets.
- Able to analyse sales performance, customer demand and market trends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with sales or inventory management systems.
- Willing to travel locally to meet customers and develop business when required.
