Sales Manager Job Description
Summary:
Manages the New and Used Vehicle Department to ensure that customer needs are met. Planning, organizing, and controlling the activities of the Sales Department. Oversees all activities of the Sales Department including monitoring the showroom and lot, the department finances, sales consultants, customer service, brand, inventory, advertising, and prospecting. Strives to achieve Company objectives for sales, customer satisfaction and profitability.
Reports To: General Sales Manager or General Manager
Job Duties:
• Creating annual dealership sales forecasts by estimating total vehicle sales, gross and operating profits and expenses for the Sales Department.
• Effectively manage used sales personnel to ensure high quality and professional services are provided to all customers.
• Meets with General Manager and General Sales Manager to plan and implement objectives for achieving sales and gross profits.
• Oversees standards for displaying and merchandising used vehicles as well as reviewing and initialing all promotions before they are finalized.
• Works directly with the General Sales Manager on making recommendations for advertising campaigns, sales promotions, staffing needs, lease promotions and compensation plans.
• Resolves customer complaints ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction is obtained.
• Oversight of used car inventory, including processing deals, giving valid appraisals, and motivating sales to obtain maximum gross.
• Manage, train, coach, evaluate and direct Sales Consultants to ensure excellent customer service and to achieve maximum profits.
• Ensures and enforces that Dealership policies and procedures are understood and followed.
• Plans, analyzes, and manages department finances by comparing volume, income, cash flow, gross profit, variable expenses and customer and employee satisfaction to monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts.
• Attend auctions to purchase inventory for the used car department.
• Support, encourage, and motivate sales personnel daily to maintain high morale and ethical standards.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
• Take accountability for daily performance metrics in sales, appointments, and follow-up calls.
Exemption Status:
Sales Manager is an Exempt position. You are required by Federal and State Law and by
Reineke Family Dealerships to keep an accurate record of all hours you work each day.
Failure to comply with this requirement can result in disciplinary action up to and including
termination.
The dealership is an “at-will” employer, meaning that your employment has no specific term,
and that the employment relationship may be terminated at any time at the will of either party on
notice to the other. Nothing contained in you commission (compensation/pay) plan should be
understood to alter the nature of the at-will employment relationship or create a contract of
employment for a specific term.
