Sales Support Estimator

SUMMARY

The Estimator position plays a key role in supporting Toric’s sales and project teams through accurate and timely cost estimating, quoting, and bid preparation. This role is responsible for reviewing project specifications and drawings, developing budgets, creating scope letters, and coordinating with engineering, production, and vendors to ensure that quotes reflect project requirements. The Estimator will assist both inside sales and business development efforts, helping ensure consistent, competitive, and profitable proposals that align with Toric’s standards for quality and service.

ESSENTIALS DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

• Learn the water and wastewater market and related control processes.

• Understand Toric Engineering workflows, including engineering, manufacturing, and field service operations.

• Assist in the preparation of customer quotes, budgets, and project bids.

• Read and interpret specifications, P&IDs, and electrical drawings to determine scope of work.

• Perform detailed takeoffs from drawings to develop material, labor, and subcontract cost estimates.

• Request and evaluate quotes from vendors and suppliers.

• Create budgets using Excel.

• Develop concise and accurate scope letters that clearly define inclusions and exclusions.

• Assist the sales team with formal project bids, proposal drawings, and specifications.

• Follow up on outstanding quotes and bids, maintaining updates in the sales tracking system.

• Provide concise and professional communication between customers, project managers, engineers, and leadership.

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

• Represent Toric with professionalism and attention to detail at all times.

• Demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks, learning from mistakes, and striving for continuous improvement.

Required knowledge, skills, & abilities

• Strong math and writing background with excellent analytical and communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, quoting, and reporting.

• Ability to read and interpret specifications and understand what to quote.

• Ability to read and understand P&ID drawings and electrical schematics.

• Extreme attention to detail, ensuring that all project costs and accessories are captured.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines.

• Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused, team-oriented attitude.

• Ability to work independently and maintain accountability for results.

• Professional integrity, reliability, and commitment to quality.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Experience in the water/wastewater or electrical control systems industry.

• Familiarity with AutoCAD, SEE Electrical, or other CAD software.

• Experience preparing quotes or budgets for control panels, SCADA systems, or instrumentation.

• Knowledge of electrical components, PLCs, VFDs, and instrumentation.

• Experience working with vendors, suppliers, and A&E firms on bid packages.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical diagrams.

• Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in electrical engineering technology, Construction Management, or related field preferred, or related experience

• Proficiency with Salesforce experience a plus.

This job operates in a combination of a professional office environment and a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
