Sales Trainee Associate
Role Summary
The Sales Associate Trainee supports the Sales team while receiving structured on-the-job training to develop the skills and knowledge required for a career in FMCG sales. The role provides hands-on exposure to customer relationship management, route-to-market execution, merchandising, product knowledge, market intelligence, sales administration, and business development while supporting the achievement of sales and customer service objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Sales Associates with daily customer visits, route activities, and sales operations.
- Assist with servicing retailers, distributors, and other customers to ensure effective product distribution and availability.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with customers and respond appropriately to customer enquiries.
- Escalate customer complaints, service issues, and other concerns to the Territory Supervisor for resolution.
- Assist with product merchandising, including proper placement, pricing, stock rotation, and maintaining attractive displays.
- Support promotional campaigns, product activations, and other brand visibility initiatives.
- Monitor product availability and stock levels at customer locations and report potential stock-outs.
- Apply and support proper stock rotation practices, including the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principle.
- Observe competitor activities, including product offerings, pricing, promotions, and market presence, and share relevant market insights.
- Collect market information during field visits to support sales planning and business development.
- Assist in preparing daily sales reports and maintaining accurate records of customer visits, sales activities, and field observations.
- Learn and apply company procedures relating to sales, stock handling, documentation, and customer service.
- Work collaboratively with Sales, Logistics, Customer Service, Finance, and other relevant teams.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a customer-focused approach in all interactions.
- Comply with company policies, safety requirements, and ethical standards.
- Participate actively in training, coaching, and field learning activities to build sales competencies.
- Perform other sales-related duties as assigned by the Territory Supervisor.
