Inside Sales Representative (Inbound Leads): Container Rentals & Sales
About the Role:
Equipment Management Services (EMS) is looking for a full-time Inside Sales Representative to be the first point of contact for customers who want to rent or buy shipping containers. You will spend your day answering inbound calls, web inquiries, and email requests, then turning them into booked rentals and sales. You’ll learn each customer’s needs, recommend the right container and the right option (rent or buy), and provide fast, accurate quotes. You’ll also log every interaction in our CRM so no lead is lost. This role drives revenue by responding quickly, communicating clearly, and following through on every inquiry.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in inside sales, call center sales, or another customer-facing sales role.
- Experience converting inbound leads into sales and maintaining repeat customers.
- Comfortable handling a high volume of phone calls and emails every day.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Eager to learn and achieve set sales goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a high-volume, fast-paced sales environment.
- Familiarity with shipping containers, equipment rental or sales, or logistics.
- Experience quoting prices and writing up rental agreements or sales orders.
- Experience using AI tools or models (such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot) to draft communications, summarize information, or streamline everyday work.
Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to all inbound leads by phone, web form, and email, and aim to convert them into rentals or sales.
- Ask the right questions to understand each customer’s needs (rent or buy, container size and type, rental length, delivery location, site access, intended use) and recommend the right solution.
- Provide accurate quotes and explain pricing, rental terms or purchase terms, delivery, and pickup.
- Prepare rental agreements and sales orders and make sure they’re complete and accurate.
- Enter every lead and customer interaction into the CRM and keep records up to date.
- Follow up on open quotes and unconverted leads until the customer decides.
- Work with dispatch and operations to confirm availability, schedule deliveries, and keep customers informed.
- Handle customer questions and resolve issues, and follow up after delivery to support repeat business.
- Meet or exceed monthly sales and conversion goals.
Skills:
This role depends on speed, accuracy, and good phone presence. You’ll need to listen well, ask good questions, and explain the difference between renting and buying to customers who may be new to containers. Daily coordination with dispatch and operations calls for clear communication and attention to detail, so the customer gets what was promised. You’ll use the CRM to prioritize leads, track follow-ups, and see what’s working. Time management and persistence matter because you’ll be juggling many leads at once.
