Sandblaster

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S Coast Guard, Industrial Department, Services Group in Baltimore, MD. This is a temporary appointment not to exceed 1 year, can be extended up to 5 years total an or can be converted to permanent without further consideration.

You will perform all kinds of sandblasting tasks involved in the construction, repair, maintenance, overhaul and conversion of a wide variety of types and sizes of marine craft and vessels and in connection with miscellaneous manufacturing processes. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Assembling and setting up of portable sandblasting equipment. Operating equipment, adjusting mixture of air, abrasive, and water by manipulating valves. Manipulating hose to direct stream of abrasive over area required. Transporting objects to be sandblasted. Adjusting sandblasting machine to obtain proper stream of air and abrasive. Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
