Sanitation worker (Salinas, CA)
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for cleaning & sanitizing the plant equipment between production shifts. This is a technical, food- safety and human-safety focused position. Sanitors are responsible for the complete cleaning and sanitizing of plant equipment prior to releasing the plant to production for operation. Industrial cleaning chemicals are used daily and must be used with caution for the safety of the sanitor and those around them.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete general sanitation on equipment & facilities per SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures).
- Work with industrial cleaning chemicals such as chlorinated alkaline soaps, degreasers, sanitizers and acidified cleaning compounds.
- Upholds strict cleanliness standards, following SSOPs, visual inspections and QA inspector feedback.
- Willing to work flexible hours and shifts (day or night – primarily night shift).
- Works in a safe manner – adhering to PPE requirements, chemical handling requirements, ladder safety, electrical safety and general safety protocols.
- Understand and adhere to all processes when diluting concentrated chemicals.
- Must be comfortable working in a rain suit with all PPE (goggles, boots, sleeves, gloves, bump cap) in a wet, refrigerated environment.
- Follow directions from supervisor and crew lead to achieve sanitation goals & cleanliness standards.
