SAP ABAP Developer – 12-Month Contract

About the role

Design, develop, enhance and support SAP custom solutions including Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflows and Web Dynpro (RICEFW). Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical designs, development specifications and effort estimates. Develop and support integrations using IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs, OData Services, SAP Gateway, REST and SOAP APIs. Implement SAP enhancements using BADIs, User Exits, Customer Exits and the SAP Enhancement Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance and support SAP custom solutions including Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflows and Web Dynpro (RICEFW)

• Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical designs, development specifications and effort estimates

• Develop and support integrations using IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs, OData Services, SAP Gateway, REST and SOAP APIs

• Implement SAP enhancements using BADIs, User Exits, Customer Exits and the SAP Enhancement Framework

• Develop and optimise Data Dictionary objects, Open SQL queries and CDS Views

• Investigate and resolve complex application, integration and production issues

• Conduct root-cause analysis and perform application and database performance optimisation

• Support custom code remediation, optimisation and refactoring in preparation for SAP S/4HANA migration

• Perform peer code reviews and contribute to development and engineering standards

• Manage SAP transports and assist with deployment and release activities across environments

About you

• 8+ years of SAP ABAP development experience within enterprise SAP environments

• Strong hands-on experience delivering RICEFW developments

• Proven experience supporting and developing within SAP ECC environments

• Strong experience with ABAP Objects (ABAP OO), Data Dictionary, enhancements and integration development

• Advanced debugging, troubleshooting and performance-tuning capabilities

• Strong experience with IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs, OData, REST, SOAP and Web Services

• Experience developing services using SAP Gateway and OData

• Strong Web Dynpro development and support experience

• Practical experience with ABAP Unit Testing and Test-Driven Development (TDD)

• Experience with modern SAP development tools including ABAP Development Tools (ADT) and Visual Studio Code
