Lead SAP Basis Administrator designing and maintaining SAP IS-U technical architecture, HANA environments, and cloud infrastructure for federal government clients in Washington, DC.
The work:
The SAP Basis Administrator Lead owns SAP IS‑U technical architecture including infrastructure design, system landscape, performance strategy, high availability, disaster recovery, and technical operations readiness. They are responsible for architecture leadership across all SAP IS‑U technical domains and ensures stable, scalable, secure, and high‑performing environments that meet operational and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Define SAP IS‑U technical architecture, including infrastructure sizing and landscape design
- Establish performance strategy and drive optimization across SAP, HANA, and integrated components
- Architect and validate high availability and disaster recovery solutions
- Develop and govern SAP security architecture aligned with compliance and audit needs
- Build and implement monitoring frameworks that ensure proactive issue detection
- Lead operations transition, readiness, and handover processes
- Deliver technical documentation, infrastructure designs, landscape diagrams, performance strategies, HA/DR procedures, security designs, monitoring frameworks, and operations runbooks
Here’s what you need:
- 7+ years of SAP Basis Administration experience
- Experience in SAP Technical Architecture across complex utility or enterprise environments
- Strong experience with HANA administration and performance tuning
- Cloud platform knowledge (e.g., AWS, Azure) and infrastructure design capability
- Experience designing HA/DR architectures for mission‑critical workloads
- Proven ability to design monitoring frameworks and lead technical operations readiness
Nice to have:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Experience architecting SAP IS‑U environments for major utilities
- Experience leading modernization or cloud transition initiatives for SAP landscapes
- Hands‑on experience developing operations runbooks and transition frameworks
