Position: Consultant SAP Basis

Employment Type: Full-Time

Work Location: Chennai Office, WFO

Role Purpose

• Drive the administration, optimization, and stability of SAP S/4 HANA landscapes through robust BASIS support. • The role ensures high system availability, performance efficiency, and secure operations across SAP environments while enabling seamless integration with business and functional teams. • This position plays a critical role in maintaining system health, managing technical configurations, and supporting ongoing SAP initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. SAP S/4 HANA System Administration & Landscape Management - Administer SAP systems including installation, configuration, and system refresh activities. - Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity utilization. - Manage SAP instances across development, quality, and production environments. Deliverable: Stable and optimized SAP system landscape

2. Performance Monitoring & Optimization - Analyze system performance and identify bottlenecks. - Perform tuning activities for database, application servers, and workloads. - Ensure optimal system response times and throughput. Deliverable: Improved system performance and efficiency

3. Transport Management & Change Control - Manage transport routes and ensure smooth movement across landscapes. - Coordinate with functional and technical teams for change deployments. - Maintain transport logs and ensure compliance with change governance. Deliverable: Controlled and error-free transport management

4. System Security & User Administration - Manage user roles, authorizations, and access controls. - Implement SAP security policies and audit compliance requirements. - Monitor and resolve security vulnerabilities. Deliverable: Secure and compliant SAP environment

5. HANA Database Backup, Recovery & System Availability - Plan and execute backup and recovery strategies. - Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness. - Perform periodic system health checks. Deliverable: Business continuity and system resilience

6. Upgrade, Patch & Lifecycle Management (S/4 Hana, Fiori, Hana Database) - Support SAP upgrades, kernel updates, and patch implementations. - Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for system enhancements. - Ensure minimal disruption during upgrade cycles. Deliverable: Up-to-date and compliant SAP systems

7. Issue Resolution & Technical Support - Troubleshoot S/4 Hana, Fiori, Hana Database and BTP cloud related BASIS issues and provide timely resolution. - Collaborate with functional and infrastructure teams for root cause analysis. - Maintain incident logs and resolution documentation. Deliverable: Reduced downtime and effective issue closure

8. Documentation & Governance - Maintain technical documentation including system architecture and procedures. - Ensure adherence to IT governance, audit, and compliance standards.

Deliverable: Comprehensive BASIS documentation repository

Experience & Qualifications Experience: - Minimum 4 to 6 years in SAP BASIS administration - Experience in handling end-to-end SAP landscape environments

Education: - Bachelors degree in computer science, IT, or related discipline

Certification: - SAP BASIS certification preferred

Technical Competencies - SAP BASIS administration (ECC / S/4HANA and Fiori environments) - System installation, configuration, and upgrades - Transport management system (TMS) - Database administration (HANA / Max DB) - Performance tuning and monitoring tools - Backup and recovery strategies Added Advantage: - Experience with BTP cloud environments (AWS/Azure) - Exposure to Solution Manager / ChaRM Behavioural Competencies - Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset - High ownership and accountability - Ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment - Effective stakeholder coordination - Structured documentation and process discipline
