Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

• Requirements Leadership: Plan and facilitate business workshops, document business requirements and process flows, distinguish business needs from solution preferences, and obtain stakeholder alignment and formal approval.
• Solution Ownership: Translate approved requirements into an integrated SAP EWM functional design that is scalable, supportable, and aligned with enterprise architecture and SAP best practices.
• Fit-to-Standard and Optimization: Promote effective use of standard SAP EWM capabilities, identify process simplification opportunities, and recommend configuration before custom development. Clearly document business value, risks, and support implications for required enhancements.
• Functional Configuration: Provide hands-on configuration leadership for embedded or decentralized EWM, including warehouse structure, master data, inbound and outbound processing, warehouse tasks and orders, storage control, replenishment, cross-docking, wave management, labor-related processes, physical inventory, handling units, packing, staging, and shipping.
• Advanced EWM Capabilities: Assess and lead the appropriate design of Yard Management, Slotting and Rearrangement, Labor Management, Production Supply, Quality Inspection integration, Value-Added Services, RF and mobile execution, automation, and Material Flow System integration where applicable.
• Cross-Functional Integration: Lead functional integration with SAP S/4HANA processes and adjacent solutions, including inventory management, sales and distribution, transportation, manufacturing, quality, procurement, finance, master data, reporting, and warehouse automation systems.
• Process and Design Documentation: Maintain business process design documents, functional specifications, configuration documentation, process flows, decision logs, traceability, and operating procedures with clear ownership and version control.
• Testing Leadership: Define the functional test strategy and acceptance criteria; lead unit, integration, regression, user acceptance, and operational scenario testing; ensure defects are triaged, prioritized, resolved, and retested.
• Data and Readiness: Partner with business and technical teams to define master and transactional data requirements, validate data quality, support migration and reconciliation, and confirm warehouse readiness for deployment.
Cutover, Go-Live, and Stabilization: Lead functional cutover planning, mock cutovers, go-live readiness assessments, command-center support, hypercare, issue resolution, and transition to the production support organization.
• Business Adoption: Partner with business process owners and warehouse leaders to define role impacts, training needs, work instructions, super-user capability, adoption measures, and sustainable operating practices.
• Governance and Decision Support: Present solution options, tradeoffs, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to business and IT leadership; escalate decisions promptly and maintain alignment to scope, schedule, budget, and expected business outcomes.
• Functional Team Leadership: Provide day-to-day direction to EWM analysts, consultants, developers, integration teams, and implementation partners; review deliverables for completeness and quality; and build internal EWM capability through coaching and knowledge transfer.
• Operational Excellence: Use warehouse performance indicators, production incidents, user feedback, and backlog trends to identify root causes and prioritize continuous-improvement opportunities after go-live.
• Perform other duties as needed.
Required Experience and Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent education and relevant experience.
• Typically 10 or more years of combined warehouse operations, supply chain process, and SAP functional experience, including significant hands-on SAP EWM experience.
• Demonstrated leadership of at least one end-to-end SAP EWM implementation or major rollout, from business requirements and solution design through testing, cutover, go-live, and stabilization.
• Strong business knowledge of warehouse and distribution operations, including receiving, putaway, replenishment, inventory control, picking, packing, staging, shipping, labor execution, cycle counting, and exception management.
• Deep functional knowledge of SAP EWM configuration, master data, warehouse structure, inbound and outbound processes, handling units, warehouse task and order management, RF execution, physical inventory, replenishment, wave management, and integration points.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA embedded EWM and/or decentralized EWM. Knowledge of SAP EWM 2023 or a comparable current release is preferred.
• Experience integrating EWM with core S/4HANA business processes and one or more adjacent capabilities such as TM, manufacturing, quality, automation, MFS, third-party logistics, carrier systems, or reporting platforms.
• Ability to develop process flows, business requirements, functional designs, configuration documents, functional specifications, test scenarios, acceptance criteria, cutover plans, and support procedures.
• Experience leading fit-to-standard workshops, design reviews, defect triage, readiness assessments, and business decision forums with both operational and executive stakeholders.
• SAP EWM certification is preferred. Lean, Six Sigma, APICS/ASCM, or warehouse operations credentials are beneficial.
• Working knowledge of SAP implementation methods, system development life cycle, integration principles, security roles, data migration, testing, and change management. ABAP coding expertise is not required, but the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams is essential.
Competencies:
• Warehouse Business Acumen: Understands how warehouse processes, controls, labor, equipment, inventory accuracy, service levels, throughput, and safety requirements influence solution design.
• EWM Functional Depth: Recognized as a functional expert who can configure, evaluate, and troubleshoot SAP EWM processes across the end-to-end warehouse lifecycle.
• Business-to-Solution Translation: Converts operational needs into clear requirements and an integrated solution, while challenging unnecessary complexity and protecting the integrity of the standard platform.
• Leadership and Influence: Leads cross-functional teams without relying solely on formal authority and creates alignment among business owners, IT teams, vendors, and site leadership.
• Decision Quality: Frames alternatives, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations clearly and makes timely decisions based on business value and operational impact.
• Problem Solving: Uses structured root-cause analysis to resolve process, configuration, integration, data, and adoption issues rather than treating symptoms.
• Communication: Communicates complex warehouse and SAP concepts in practical language for executives, process owners, supervisors, end users, and technical teams.
• Delivery Discipline: Manages priorities, dependencies, decisions, risks, issues, requirements traceability, and deliverable quality across multiple workstreams and deployment phases.
• Collaboration and Coaching: Builds trusted partnerships, develops functional talent, and enables business super users and support teams through effective knowledge transfer.
• Professional Judgment: Demonstrates integrity, accountability, discretion, and sound judgment when managing operational risks, confidential data, and high-impact production decisions.
• Adaptability: Works effectively in a changing, multi-site environment and remains calm and action-oriented during cutovers, go-lives, and production stabilization.
Other Pertinent Job Information:
• Leadership Scope: May lead internal analysts, external consultants, system integrators, and cross-functional business participants through project and operational work, including indirect or matrixed relationships.
• Work Structure: Hybrid role with on-site presence at the corporate office four days per week and remote flexibility one day per week, subject to business needs.
• Travel: Requires travel to distribution centers, manufacturing sites, and project locations for discovery, design validation, testing, training, cutover, go-live, and stabilization activities.
• Operational Support: Must be available during planned cutovers, critical deployment windows, and high-priority production events as business needs require.
