SAP Finance Backend Developer
Summary
Designs and develops SAP S/4HANA Finance backend solutions using ABAP (CDS views, AMDP, RAP/BOPF), OData services, and SAP BTP integrations, supporting FI modules such as GL, AP, AR, and Asset Accounting. Works with analysts and developers on testing and support, mentors juniors, and follows Costco technical standards.
Description of position
SAP Finance Backend Developer with expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance modules. Candidate will ensure design and development of systems that meet specifications and requirements of project and overall business needs with little supervision. The SAP S/4HANA Backend Analyst works alongside other developers and functional support analysts, handling multiple tasks simultaneously to create intuitive and efficient solutions. Together, they must work as peers and be able to collaborate and communicate effectively with extended team members.
Tasks and responsibilities
● Designs business applications with a high attention to quality and details, while following naming and technical standards set by Costco
● Collaborates with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of SAP software programs and applications
● Provides SAP support including analysis, development, testing, tracking and resolution
● Demonstrates a logical and structured approach to time management and task prioritization
● Demonstrates a high level of communication skills, verbal and written
● Mentoring less experienced team members on SAP programming concepts and tool suite
● Responsible for continued personal growth in the areas of technology, business knowledge and Costco policies and platforms
● Participates in team activities and team planning in regards to improving team skills, awareness and quality of work
Required skills and abilities
● Minimum 5+ years of experience in SAP (ABAP) development
● Proficiency in ABAP for SAP S/4HANA, including CDS views, AMDP, and RAP/BOPF
● Experience with financial modules like General Ledger (FI-GL), Accounts Payable (FI-AP), Accounts Receivable (FI-AR), and Asset Accounting (FI-AA)
● Understanding of financial reporting and accounting processes
● Experience with S/4HANA backend development, OData services, and integration with SAP BTP or cloud platforms
● Knowledge of modern SAP development standards for S/4HANA and NetWeaver platform
● Experienced in all SAP enhancement techniques (BADIs, User Exits, Enhancement points) within the S/4HANA environment
● Strong conceptual, analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting and resolution skills with an emphasis on Advanced ABAP debugger skills to support quick turnaround of analysis and issue resolution
● Experienced with all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
● Extensive knowledge in handling RICEFW and experience in end to end S/4HANA implementation
● Create and execute unit test scripts to ensure the development objects provide accurate results and meet requirements
● Self-motivated, flexible, eager to learn new things

● Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and exhibit a strong sense of urgency
● Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of SAP software programs and applications
● Ability to effectively mentor less experienced team members on SAP programming and testing techniques
● One or more full project life cycle SAP implementation including blueprinting, configuration, testing, training and post implementation support
● Plan, schedule and track project timeline, milestones and deliverables, and report status to project stakeholders and/or management on a regular basis
● Good understanding of corporate IT policies, procedures and standards
● Good decision making skills
