Saw Operator
Summary
Operates and maintains Amada and Kasto metal-cutting band saws, sets up jobs, and ensures quality while following safety protocols in a manufacturing facility.
A Saw Operator is responsible for understanding the set-up, programming and operation of the Amada and Kasto metal cutting band saws. The operator will also have the understanding of the Kasto inventory system where all Bar stock material is stored and maintained.
Responsibilities
The Saw Operator is primarily responsible for:
- Demonstrates understanding to operate the Amada and Kasto band saws.
- Shows ability to setup saws and run the job with minimal supervision.
- Training of downloading daily production board job list and produce job packets.
- Knowledgeable of a standard or digital caliper for measuring product.
- Supports and assists with saw PM program.
- Begin learning the material inventory by using Kasto inventory system.
- Responsible for dimensional and quality requirements of components.
- Understands all shop and machine equipment Safety Hazards.
- Proper use of precision measuring tools without any assistance.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Required: 1 to 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Preferred: Relevant vocational technical certification.
- Basic knowledge of metal cutting.
- Proven ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Commitment to high-quality standards and continuous improvements.
- Well organized and multi tasked self-starter.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Must be able to recognize and be discreet with sensitive business-related materials.
- Must be able to work with people to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Must be able to read, understand, learn and follow written and verbal safety, quality and work instructions.
- Must possess technical aptitude, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

- This position will require working primarily indoors in a manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.
- Occasional assignments will require evening or weekend schedules.
- The noise level is usually moderate. Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
