As a national leader in aviation and aerospace education, the School of Aviation and Aerospace prepares learners for rewarding careers through innovative, hands-on training and strong industry partnerships.

The Aviation Fundamentals program is a one-year Ontario College Certificate designed to provide students with the foundational knowledge, practical skills, and technical competencies required to begin a career in aviation or continue into advanced aviation programs. Students develop competencies in aviation safety, aircraft science, electricity, mathematics, technical communications, aviation operations, and practical shop skills.

We are seeking individuals who possess strong technical expertise, relevant industry experience, and a passion for helping learners build the foundational skills required for success in aviation and related technical careers. The successful candidates will teach and support learners in one or more of the following subject areas:

Health and Safety for Aviation
Aircraft Science and Aerodynamics
Basic Electricity (DC and AC)
Introduction to Aviation
Aviation Industry Fundamentals
Basic Tools and Hand Skills
Other courses as assigned

Qualifications:

Diploma, Degree, Certification, or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience in aviation, aerospace, engineering, technology, skilled trades, occupational health and safety, physics, mathematics, electrical systems, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience.
Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Aviation safety and regulations
Aircraft systems and operations
Electricity and electrical systems
Aerodynamics and aircraft science
Applied mathematics or physics
Technical trades and shop practices

Experience with simulation or technology-enhanced learning
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, or equivalent, preferably in a college setting.
Excellent record of teaching experience along with relevant work experience in the professional field or discipline appropriate to the area of instruction.
Experience with a Learning Management System (e.g., Desire2Learn, Blackboard, etc.), including the creation of discussion forums, tests, assignments, chat rooms, to edit and modify course content when required
Evidence of having maintained up-to-date knowledge and achievements in the field appropriate to the area of instruction
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to reliably commute to the Aviation Campus of Canadore College in North Bay, ON required

Responsibilities:

Teach regularly scheduled classes and promote safe, inclusive, and engaging learning outcomes aligned with industry standards
Work closely with students and colleagues to provide an optimal learning environment
Perform all responsibilities associated with the learning environment including preparation, delivery, and evaluation of theory, and practical learning activities
