School of Business - Accounting & Finance Assistant Lecturer
Job Description:
The Assistant Lecturer in Accounting & Finance will contribute to teaching and learning across a range of accounting subjects, including Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Taxation, Financial Reporting, Auditing, and Assurance. The role involves supporting academic excellence through teaching, scholarship, and research activities, while contributing to departmental administration, student success, and the continued development of the accounting discipline.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning activities for undergraduate and postgraduate students, under the guidance of senior academic staff and in line with established curricula.
- Deliver tutorials, seminars, workshops, laboratory sessions, and other small-group learning activities, providing effective academic support and skills development for students.
- Assess and provide constructive feedback on coursework, examinations, practical assignments, and other assessment activities in accordance with approved academic standards and procedures.
- Contribute to the continuous enhancement of the student learning experience by evaluating teaching effectiveness, reviewing feedback, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of academic and student engagement initiatives, including guest lectures, field trips, social media activities, and other special projects.
- Provide academic guidance and pastoral support to students while maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records, including attendance, assessment, and progression data.
- Contribute to academic advising and student tutoring activities, supporting students’ academic development and success.
- Support consultancy projects, professional development programmes, knowledge exchange activities, and other initiatives that strengthen engagement with industry and the wider community.
- Ensure compliance with University policies, procedures, and regulations, including those relating to health and safety, equality, diversity, inclusion, dignity, and respect.
- Engage in continuous professional development, including undertaking or progressing toward an appropriate postgraduate qualification and contributing to scholarly and research activities.
