Job Description Assistant Lecturer – International Fashion Business Main Duties and Responsibilities Teaching, Learning and Assessment
  • Support the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment activities across undergraduate programmes.
  • Deliver tutorials, practical sessions, workshops, and small-group teaching activities under the guidance of module leaders.
  • Support students in developing their understanding of International Fashion Business concepts, industry practices, and professional skills.
  • Assist with assessment activities, including marking, feedback, and student support.
  • Provide academic guidance and support to students during learning activities and projects.
Tutorials, Technical Support and Learning Resources
  • Plan and deliver tutorials that support students’ academic development and understanding of module content.
  • Support students in applying fashion business concepts through practical activities, projects, and digital tools.
  • Provide technical guidance and support in the use of relevant software, platforms, and industry tools used within fashion business education, such as:
    • Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
    • Microsoft Office Suite / Excel for business analysis and reporting
    • Digital presentation and communication tools
    • Fashion retail, trend forecasting, and business planning platforms where applicable
  • Support the preparation of teaching materials, presentations, workshops, and online learning resources.
Curriculum and Student Experience
  • Contribute to curriculum delivery and enhancement activities.
  • Support student projects, presentations, exhibitions, competitions, and industry-facing activities.
  • Assist students in developing professional portfolios and employability skills.
  • Provide support to students as a personal tutor where appropriate.
Academic Quality and Professional Practice
  • Participate in quality assurance and enhancement activities.
  • Engage with feedback from students and colleagues to improve teaching practices.
  • Maintain current knowledge of fashion business trends, technologies, and industry developments.
Industry Engagement and Collaboration
  • Support relationships with industry partners through projects, events, guest lectures, and professional activities.
  • Contribute to initiatives that enhance student employability and industry engagement.
Research and Professional Development
  • Engage in professional development activities to enhance subject knowledge and teaching practice.
  • Support research, scholarly activity, and professional practice activities within the School.
Additional Duties
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade, responsibilities, and purpose of the role as reasonably required by the University.
